From August 17 to 20, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will be presented for the first time in the city of Oaxaca. The focus of the event will be to highlight the work of national creatives.
The platform has toured the country in recent years to bring these fashion events to other cities beyond the country’s capital. Among the cities he has visited are Puebla, Guadalajara and Mérida. Now comes the turn of Oaxaca, where they will not only promote national fashion but also gastronomy, art and local culture. With this edition, the platform program starts around the country. Guadalajara and Mérida will be the next cities.
During this edition, they will present the collections of both Oaxacan creatives and other parts of the country. Within them, the pieces of the Oaxacan talents, MORAVY and Pompi García will be presented. In addition, there will be the presence of Alfredo Martínez, Julia and Renata, Kris Goyri and Lorena Saravia.
Within the framework of the event, the designer Carla Fernández will also present an exhibition of her book “Manifesto to fashion in resistance”. In addition, recognition will be given to Oaxacan designer Armando Mafud for his 42-year career.
As for the cultural and artistic offer, there will be special presentations by the teacher Amador Montes, the dance group Los Diablos Aceitados de San Martín Tilcajete, the teacher Dula Cedillo, the soprano María Reyna and the Juchirap group.
The venues for this edition will be Casa Contraluz, a mezcal with which the fashion week presents together, the Convention Center, the Macedonio Alcalá Theater, La Fortaleza and La Calera.
